Lay your foundation by training the fundamentals. In Core Technique, you’ll start with games and exercises that get you out of your head and into your body, exploring what it means to be emotionally and physically present — immediate, alive, and responsive. This hands-on work trains you to use your body as an expressive instrument, connect physical choices to emotional life, and respond fully to your classmates, building a solid base for everything that follows.

From there, you’ll move into script analysis, exploring the mechanics of storytelling and uncovering key concepts like given circumstances, objectives, and actions. You’ll develop a feel for subtext, beat changes, and narrative rhythm, and learn to integrate analytical thinking with creative expression — preparing you to make confident choices on stage or on camera.

You’ll train in a supportive community, applying new tools through focused practice and receiving feedback from peers and instructors. By the end, you’ll carry forward foundational skills, clarity of presence, and confidence — a strong foundation for deeper character and performance work.

Adam’s classes are full of creative and positive energy. Working on these great American plays and writing has been very inspiring for me and has helped me grow as an actress.
— Silvana Damm, Actor

Specific exercises and activities will include:
-Introduction to voice, speech, and movement for the actor.
-Rigorous application of script analysis to break down dramatic structure of plays and scenes.
-Paired work on scripted scenes from a modern American play.
-Individualized feedback on all in-class work and opportunities to refine performance skills in a supportive setting.

To enable all participants to work intensively during each class, enrollment is limited to a maximum of ten students. You should expect to work at least one hour each week outside of class on readings and assigned scenes.

Instructors: Adam Ludwig, Stephanie LeBolt

The course is conducted in English. Digital copies of readings, plays, and assigned scenes will be provided.
